Tallinn University hosts the 10th International Conference on Cultural Policy Research (ICCPR) from August 21 to August 25, 2018 as a joint effort of its three institutes: Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School; School of Governance, Law and Society; and School of Humanities.
The academic committee of ICCPR 2018 consists of Egge Kulbok-Lattik, Triin Roosalu, Helen Sooväli-Sepping, Andres Jõesaar, and Indrek Ibrus.
The theme of this years’ conference, “The Cultural Governance of Global Flows: Past and Future” refers to the emergence of complex global flows that present contemporary societies with novel challenge. The cultural programme of the conference aims to introduce the Estonian culture on an international arena and offers additional value for the creative businesses in Estonia to be in close contact with experts of shaping but also understanding cultural policy in the making worldwide.

The project is made possible with the help of EU funding. ICCPR 2018 is partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the “Development of creative industries” measure and the “International events and conferences” measure (project “BFM”). The Fund has allocated 30 000 EUR for organizing additional social and cultural events during the 10th International Conference on Cultural Policy Research. In addition, it contributes to making travel arrangements for the conference guests and provides the technical solutions for broadcasting selected sessions of the conference online.
One of the project goals is to introduce the Estonian culture and its unique values through organizing a well-known international conference on cultural policy research. This includes presenting the Estonian creative economy to a varied audience and support creating the image of Estonia as an innovative country that is known for its creative business, ICT solutions and innovative ideas in the intersection of these fields. Special emphasis is set on cultural tourism, showcasing Estonia as a destination for tourists with a deep interest in culture.
As a result of this project, participants of the conference and the wider community of cultural policy researchers will have a better understanding of the variety that Estonia has to offer as a small and young country with a distinct history, outlook and vision, especially in creative fields.
